Algebra I, Semester 2 – Accelerate
The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades. The critical areas of this course deepen and extend understanding of linear and exponential relationships by contrasting them with each other.
Students will continue on to learn the concept of a function and familiarize themselves with the use of function notation throughout the course. Students are also introduced to quadratic functions along with basic methods for analyzing, solving, graphing, and using these functions.
This course also continues to extend students’ tools for analyzing data; specifically in the instances where linear models are an appropriate fit for the data.
