This course is designed for students at a lower reading level or students who are At-Risk, or in danger of not graduating high school. American Literature is a comprehensive course that covers Genres and writing styles by through writings about:
Forging America’s Literary Tradition: 1620-1849; The Inspiration of New England: 1837-1860; Local Color in America: 1849-1889; the Harvest of Realism and Naturalism: 1890-1908; American Literature Comes of Age: 1905-1940; Moving Into Modern Times: 1940-1970; and Contemporaty American Literature: 1971-present. Quizzes and tests are available on-line (graded immediately).
