This course encourages students to think about the history and continuing challenges unique to Alaska. The lessons present Alaska’s geography, Native cultures, Russian exploration and influence, American colonization and the rush for gold, World War II, statehood, and current issues. Questions within the lessons are designed to promote critical thinking and analysis of how the Native people of Alaska have been and continue to be impacted by these events.
